BYD’s *Near* Instantaneous Charging

Imagine charging your EV instantaneously… crazy as it sounds – this dream is not an outlandish request. BYD just unveiled a major battery breakthrough…

This week, the Chinese EV maker showcased its 1,000kW charging system capable of fueling ~250 miles of range in five minutes. Read that again – 250 miles in 5 minutes.

This is a MAJOR battery breakthrough!

For reference – Tesla’s V4 Supercharger’s max power output tops at 350kW, fueling ~200 miles in 15 minutes. BYD’s latest and greatest has nearly 3x the max power capacity while exceeding Tesla’s range in 1/3 of the time.

This is innovation at its best.

BYD plans to deploy its Super e-Platform technology in its Han L sedan and Tang L SUV this Spring.

The company will also install 4,000+ Super e-Platform chargers throughout China, but failed to provide a timeline.

The Electric Tipping Point

Gas powered cars are likely to be a thing of the past.

This is not an environmental take.

Rather – what’s happening is battery + EV technology is accelerating at such a rate – gas powered cars will soon be obsolete.

Akin to when the automobile replaced the horse and buggy…
