Google Reports Earnings, AI Is A Good Teacher And Congrats Nasdaq 100 and The People That Make Markets

Good afternoon…

I was waiting until the market close to see how $GOOG would report earnings. So far the traders feel ok with the reported numbers and the stock is trading up.

I do not make a habit of listening to earnings calls but we have made it so easy to listen in live on Stocktwits that I now do. It is fun to banter in real time with the community. I expect a lot of conversation about search traffic worries and AI strategy. I hope to hear about Waymo strategy as well.

You can listen to the call easily on Stocktwits as it starts in 10 minutes (from the sending of this email).

I am not as concerned for Google’s AI future as the rest of Wall Street and main street seem to be. I live on $GOOG products and Gemini is excellent. From single response AI email responses, Gemini now offers me incredible detailed email responses to help turn email around, especially when it comes to sales and leads.

Also, when I search for topics, I now get Gemini answers at the top.

Yesterday, I saw that the Peru stock market broke out of a 17 year base. I assumed it was not technology related and commodity related for the country. My crude search led to this:

That is great news for me the user, and short term very bad for companies that rely on Google for SEO.

Google is best to figure out how to monetize this new user experience with their engineers and sales force already built. They will solve for this because it is life and death.

Open AI did a great job waking the beast.

The FTC will do its part punishing Google for past ‘crimes’, meanwhile all the monopolistic behavior Google is accused of has not mattered as Open AI emerged and wedged into the mainstream seemingly overnight. The FTC like much of government is just cranky, old, and terribly UNcurious.

Most exciting about AI is that it is pretty magical for so many people. I love this simple explanation:

I have seen this happen recently with my son Max easily prompting topics that would just be too cumbersome to get a fast/digestable answer in a pre Open AI era.

Exciting times.

That is why despite the terrible rhetoric and politics, the Nasdaq is closing at all-time highs today.

Innovation is still prized. It is not guaranteed though and that is what makes markets.
