The market climbed Wednesday ahead of President Trump’s end-of-day announcement of 25% tariffs on all foreign-made automobiles and 10% general tariffs on all companies. among other fresh reciprocal tariffs. Trump said the new levies would go into effect at midnight tonight, speaking from the Rose Garden.
Following the news, after-hours markets dropped to share Monday’s seven-month lows. But as Treasury Secretary Bessent told Bloomberg TV tonight, there is always tomorrow.
