Platform That Profits From Rugpulls Rugpulls Its Own Supply In Solidarity 😆
A platform that built its empire on launching tokens that go to zero, Pump.fun announced last night it has burned approximately $370 million worth of $PUMP ( ▼ 7.58% ) tokens, roughly 36% of circulating supply, in an effort to gain the trust of holders who noticed something was off.
Twitter tweet
And 100% of the revenue going into burns is no longer a thing.
They said, basically, they need money. Without citing nine months of allocating 100% of revenue to buybacks while the token did whatever the opposite of pumping is, it was a problem.
To address this, Pump.fun has also locked in a smart contract directing 50% of future revenue toward additional buyback and burns – for exactly one year.

A – All-Weather Portfolio (protect your base in any market)
B – Become Your Own Bank (collect fees like institutions)
N – Native Markets (get in before major exchange listings)
The same institutional edge… without needing millions in capital.
Over 4,000 investors are already using this:
Bill generated $932,000 in 21 days using our Native Markets strategy.

When the Chart Goes Flat: Crypto Media Has Lost A Third Of Its Audience 😱
Crypto-native publishers had a 2024 sugar high. Election bounce, spot ETF afterglow, Bitcoin north of $100K – everybody and their cousin was clicking on a Cointelegraph headline.
Then the calendar turned, Google turned the screws, Bitcoin stopped moving, and the whole vertical got repriced. Across 349 crypto-native outlets tracked by Outset Media Index, global monthly traffic went from 105.85M visits in January 2025 to 70.78M in December – a 33% drawdown in twelve months.
Q1 2026 brought no relief.
Damage By The Numbers
-
Sector trajectory was straight down through 2025: a 33% global drawdown from January to December, with the US (130 outlets) cratering 33.5% quarter-over-quarter in Q4 alone. October peak: 43.92M visits. December floor: 29.22M.
-
Cointelegraph crater: the largest crypto-native publisher on the planet started 2025 at 12.8M monthly visits and walked off a cliff. The October 6 manual-style enforcement hit after Google’s August spam update; the iGaming directory operating under cointelegraph.com’s authority pulled the whole domain down. US edition collapsed 76% September to December, from 6M to under 1.5M visits.
-
Concentration math: 53 outlets capture 95.25% of total US crypto-native traffic. Gini coefficient sits at 0.62 – more unequal than US household income. The middle class of crypto media has effectively died.
What’s Driving It?
-
Google rerouting search authority. The August spam update did the headline damage; the June core update before it had already moved 63% of media outlets up or down 14-50%. Publishers running affiliate, comparison, and casino content under news-domain authority got penalized. Publishers without those structures (BeInCrypto, The Block, Bitcoin Magazine) held.
-
AI displacing search itself. AI referrals accounted for 25.61% of all referral traffic across US crypto-native outlets in Q4 2025, with ChatGPT alone driving 87% of that. Year-over-year growth: 623%. Readers who used to type “BTC price” into a URL bar are asking a chatbot instead.
-
Bitcoin price as primary attention catalyst. US crypto media traffic peaked in October 2025 when BTC briefly hit $126K. November fell 24.79% as BTC dropped 27% to under $81K. Q1 2026 saw BTC drop another 22% to $68K.
The Robinhood Correlation confirmation
-
$HOOD ( ▼ 13.25% ) Q1 print told the same story from the brokerage side. Crypto transaction revenue $134M, down 47% year-over-year. Robinhood App crypto notional volume $24B, down 48%. Customers placing crypto trades down 32% YoY.
It’s ugly out there. The publishers who kept clean editorial structures (#flex) held; the ones who rented their domain authority to casino affiliates are at a fraction of their 2024 traffic.

The big story was Cambridge’s Bitcoin mining report – mining used about 138 TWh a year, roughly 0.54% of global electricity, with just over 52% of power coming from sustainable sources.
-
The U.S. was basically the mining empire – about 75.4% of global hashrate, with North America around 82% combined.
-
Mining was getting more concentrated – 4 pools controlled about 75% of total hashrate, and Bitmain basically owned the ASIC market.
-
Mashinsky was staring at a possible 20-year sentence – the Celsius wreckage was back in focus, along with the long list of ways customers got cooked.
Here’s what was happening in the newsletter two years ago today:
-
Ethereum fees had dropped hard – average fees were down to about $3.87 from $15.21 in early March.
-
The Tornado Cash case was framed as the real privacy fight – less about price, more about whether code and anonymity get treated like crimes.
-
Runes holders were getting wrecked – about 68% were in the red not long after launch.
-
Lido had become a monster – over 1 million Ethereum validators and about 28.5% of all staked ETH.
