April 2025 Was Like Your Team Playing Terribly And Still Winning 🤦

Before we dive in, here’s today’s crypto market heatmap:
And here’s a look at crypto’s total market and altcoin market cap charts:
TECHNICAL ANALYSIS
April Felt Like It Sucked, But Bitcoin Did OK 🤷
Bitcoin’s April 2025 felt like a month-long root canal – unpleasant, drawn-out, and oddly disappointing despite the win. 🎢
BTC closed April 2025 up a decent 14.17%, which, believe it or not, comfortably beats the historical average April performance of +8.74%.
That puts April 2025 eighth among the last twelve Aprils; sure, not top-tier, but better than suffering through another 2022 (-17.31%) or 2024’s miserable -14.95%. 🥴
Historically, April tends to be pretty decent for BTC:
-
Average Performance: +8.74%
-
Best Ever April: +34.57% (2020)
-
Worst Ever April: -17.31% (2022)
So yeah, April 2025 wasn’t an absolute banger, and certainly won’t win any “Best Month Ever” awards. But a win is a win. 👍️
Disclaimer: Hey, so, there’s a lot crazy going on this afternoon: XRP is reportedly eyeing Circle for an acquisition, China and the US are back in the awkward small-talk phase, and everyone is still digesting that advanced Q1 GDP number (-0.3%). As of 1500 EST, April looks green – but crazy things can happen.

BlackRock’s $150B Treasury Fund Tokenization 🤯
BlackRock just decided managing $150 billion the old-fashioned way was too dull, so it’s tokenizing the entire Treasury Trust Fund on blockchain. 🤑
Partnering exclusively with BNY Mellon, the world’s largest asset manager is launching digital DLT Shares aimed at institutional big shots who are willing to pony up at least $3 million to play.

💸 Bitwise Analyst Sees U.S. Recession Fueling Bitcoin Rally
A U.S. recession might seem like bad news – but not for Bitcoin, says Bitwise’s André Dragosch. With Q1 GDP contracting, rate cuts by the Fed could weaken the dollar, turning economic woes into crypto gains. Bitcoin recently dipped below $95k, but Dragosch sees the downturn as temporary turbulence, arguing that as the dollar loses steam, Bitcoin becomes the go-to asset to hedge against financial chaos.
