ON-CHAIN ANALYSIS
Altcoin’s Facing Another Bearish Breakout? Or Is It Massive Fakeout? 🤷

ICPUSD $0.50/3-box Reversal Chart – Click to enlarge.

$ICP ( ▲ 3.79% ) ’s Point & Figure chart reflects the broader altcoin market: many coins remain stuck at or near major lows. I’ve highlighted a pattern developing known as a Bearish Catapult – this is one of the most powerful and sought after short setups in Point & Figure.

Now, that might sound bad if you’re a bull. Certainly things could keep going lower and this kind of setup is not bullish; not in the least.

However, the fact that it has developed at these extreme lows is important. Historically, altcoins have produced similar setups near major lows – often as a massive fake-out that gives hodlers at least a temporary reprieve from the relentless slide.

For Bears: Confirmation of continued selling pressure will occur when a new ‘O’ prints at the $2.00 level.

For Bulls: A sign of rejection against lower moves will occur first when there’s a three box reversal and return to $4.50.

NEWS
Sui Validators Volunteer To Process Trillions Of Dollars For Absolutely No Money 🤔

So $SUI ( ▼ 2.63% ) just made stablecoin transfers free.

Not subsidized, not promotional – protocol-level, structurally $0.00. USDC, USDY, FDUSD, USDsui, suiUSDe, AUSD, and USDB are all supported at launch, and Fireblocks, which secures over $14 trillion in digital asset transactions, integrated ahead of the rollout.

Users no longer need to hold SUI to move stablecoins on Sui. The friction of buying a second token just to send your first token – the single most annoying onboarding step in crypto – is gone.

The more interesting angle isn’t the institutional sell. It’s what zero-fee transfers do to micropayment unit economics. When gas can rival or exceed the payment itself, sub-dollar transactions don’t really exist. When gas is zero, they suddenly do – which is precisely the world AI agents need to operate in.

So how do they make money on this. No idea. I’ll dig into that because nobody does anything for free.

REAL WORLD ASSET TOKENIZATION
Bar Of Gold Stunned To Learn It’s Now Expected To Earn Its Keep 🧑‍🏭

It doesn’t seem so long ago that I started to pepper this newsletter with the stupid number of precious metal tokenization projects. Turns out, enough time has gone by that some of these entities are reporting financials.

Exhibit A

$STEX ( ▲ 3.67% ) closed Q1 with roughly $14 million in GLDY AUM (3,096 ounces) and just paid its second monthly yield distribution: 8.27 ounces of gold to holders, or 0.002677 GLDY per token, currently earning a 3.5% annualized lease yield.

Holders are getting paid in gold to hold gold. Streamex also lined up Equity Trust for IRA access to $72B and 359,000 retirement accounts, Wintermute for T+0 mint/redeem, and Orca for compliant 24/7 secondary trading. GLDC (retail gold) and SLVC (silver) are slated for Q3.

Exhibit B

$ANTA ( ▼ 3.53% ) posted Q1 revenue of $20.7 million (up 52% YoY) and $10.9 million in unrealized fair value gains on Aurelion’s XAUt holdings. In April, the company started deploying its tokenized gold into yield-generating protocols rather than letting the position sit idle on the balance sheet.

Exhibit C

$BGL ( ▼ 8.15% ) publicly launched its Standard Gold Coin and self-custody STANDARD wallet, with the eventual plan to tokenize gold straight from its own mining operations. Mine-to-wallet, vertically integrated, 1:1 allocated.

More tokenized metal is on-chain, in circulation, and actually working, instead of waiting in a vault for a story. And there’s more coming every week.

Fetch.ai Gives AI Agents Their Own Tokens, Completing Humanity’s Journey From Bots To Bagholders

Fetch.ai launched Agent Launch, an Agentverse-linked token deployment and trading platform where verified AI agents can issue tokens, build supporter bases, and graduate to PancakeSwap V2 after reaching 30,000 FET in accumulated liquidity. Deployments cost 120 FET, trades carry a 2% FET fee, and liquidity is locked at graduation. Fetch.ai.

Circle Adds CCTP To Stellar So USDC Can Stop Wearing Fake Mustaches Between Chains

Circle’s Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol is now live on Stellar, letting users move native USDC between Stellar and 23 supported blockchains, including Ethereum, Solana, and Base. CCTP burns and mints native USDC instead of using wrapped assets or custodial bridges, while developers can embed programmable crosschain transfers directly into apps. Stellar.

Ontology Proposes Verifying Humans Without Turning Their Faces Into Database Confetti

Ontology says that proof of personhood for AI training data should use on-device verifiable credentials with selective disclosure instead of selfies, ID scans, liveness checks, and biometric surveillance. The post points to W3C Verifiable Credentials Data Model 2.0, where issuers attest a person is human, holders store credentials locally, and platforms verify only the needed claim. Ontology.

IOTA-Backed Trade Project Picks Kenya, Morocco, And Nigeria To Begin Replacing Paper With Things That Move

Kenya, Morocco, and Nigeria are the first countries implementing ADAPT, the AfCFTA-led digital trade initiative developed with the Tony Blair Institute, World Economic Forum, and IOTA Foundation. The project covers digital identity, cross-border data exchange, interoperable payments, trade documentation, and stablecoin regulatory testing. Africa’s trade finance gap is estimated at $100 billion annually, so replacing fragmented paper systems with verifiable digital infrastructure seems marginally more useful than another conference panel about “unlocking potential.” IOTA.

Axie Treasury To Earn RON Rewards For All The Breeding, Forging, And General Creature Economics Already Happening

Axie Infinity said its Treasury will soon receive 100% of its RON rewards from Ronin’s new Proof of Distribution system, which pays builders based on on-chain activity. Marketplace trades, Katana swaps, breeding, forging, ascensions, evolutions, and Rune and Charm mints all help Axie’s Builder Score, with internal estimates suggesting up to 200,000 RON per month. Lunacians were thanked for doing what they already do: keeping cartoon monsters financially productive. Axie Infinity.

Pogun Builds Bitcoin DeFi Stack So Complex It Requires Both Math And Adult Supervision

Pogun’s Bitcoin DeFi plan combines witness encryption verified on Bitcoin, recursive Halo2 proofs over Mithril for Cardano state attestation, and an N-party operator transaction graph. The team previously built Cardinal, IO’s open-source Bitcoin bridge specification on BitVMX, then shifted toward a BABE-based implementation after finding BitVM3’s off-chain setup demands could balloon from 40 GiB into terabytes. So… trust-minimized Bitcoin DeFi remains possible, provided everyone survives the engineering documentation? Cardano.

Hedera Mainnet and Testnet are now supported on Sourcify’s main instance, giving developers standard smart contract verification through Hardhat, Foundry, Remix, and the Sourcify REST API. The update means Hedera developers can use normal EVM tooling without custom plugins, finally sparing them from another bespoke configuration altar built for one network’s feelings. Hedera.

OLD NEWS
Crypto Stuff That Happened Today, But A Long Time Ago 📜

Here’s what was happening in the newsletter a year ago today:

  • An American tourist in London got drugged and robbed of about $123K in crypto – fake Uber, laced cigarette, passcodes handed over, life savings gone. Cheery stuff.

  • Bitcoin hit a new all-time high – roughly $109,786, then immediately face-planted about 3.3% before clawing back toward $108K. Standard crypto grace.

  • CME XRP futures started trading and basically landed with a thud – the big takeaway was how little volume showed up.

Two years ago – May 21, 2024

Here’s what was happening in the newsletter two years ago today:

  • Gala Games got hacked – an attacker minted 5 billion GALA, dumped part of it, then weirdly sent back nearly 6,000 ETH, around $23M.

  • Two Ethereum Foundation researchers caught heat over EigenLayer ties – advisory roles plus token allocations triggered the usual conflict-of-interest freakout.

  • Web3 gaming and NFT stuff kept chugging along – Immutable pushed BADMAD ROBOTS, and BAYC/MAYC holders got APES Capital as another way to turn JPEGs into financial theater.
