Celebrating our twentieth blogiversary

These anniversaries seem like they are coming faster and faster.

Longevity in any endeavor is a double-edged sword. One one hand, experience allows you some greater perspective. The ability to quickly sort the wheat from the chaff when it comes to the news, research and other developments. On the other hand it can sap you of some genuine excitement and wonder.

The chart below shows the performance of the stock market since this blog got underway.

After a rough start, think GFC, the stock market has seemingly done nothing but go up. That would be short-sighted, of course. There have been some nasty bear markets, a global pandemic, and a lot of turmoil along the way. As an investor you can’t take anything for granted.

All you can do is try to be a little less stupid and a little more human. There are no shortage of things to be worried about, but historically we eventually get around to doing the right thing. So fingers crossed.

Thank you all for another year of your continued readership and support. As I have the last few blogiversaries take a moment to listen to this from Cracker. “Feel thankful for the small things today” and substitute “blogiversary” for “birthday.”
