Meta Imagines A New Computer Interface

Meta has unveiled a new prototype that may forever change how we interact with computers.

Rather than relying on the traditional mouse and keyboard, Meta’s smart wristband harnesses surface electromyography (sEMG) to sense subtle movements in your wrist. It detects electrical signals sent from your brain to your hand and translates these gestures into digital commands.

Developed by Reality Labs, the wristband aims to feel intuitive and “inherently more human,” while being notably inclusive for users who struggle with conventional input devices. Meta envisions seamless integration between this wristband and its AI glasses, setting the stage for a deeply immersive computing experience.

The company is also calling on researchers to submit proposals on motor learning and the ethics of EMG-based computing.

Meta is taking a stand, marking its territory. It recognizes that we’ve entered a new era where technology form factors will evolve rapidly.

Tesla Seeks To Expand Robotaxi Operations

Tesla teased that it’s deploying its robotaxi service in San Francisco, its first major move beyond Austin. Unlike its Texas test case, all California rides are required to have a safety driver behind the wheel.

There are no public maps with exact boundaries, but the service is speculated to operate within a wide swath of the Bay Area – including Marin, East Bay, SF proper and stretches to San Jose.

Meanwhile – Waymo covers 80-85 square miles in San Francisco. Time will tell if Tesla can acquire market share.

ICYMI: I recently shared why I believe now is the time to accumulate $TSLA and wait if the stock is above $288. Read my post here.

All Eyes On Dubai

The eVTOL race is here – it’s all eyes on Dubai…

Joby Aviation is targeting its first air taxi flights in Dubai by early 2026, following a successful test flight and pending regulatory approval.

Joby’s initial Dubai rollout will feature five of its eVTOL aircraft, beginning with tourist air tours and later expanding to scheduled routes such as airport shuttles. These piloted, four-passenger air taxis are designed to cut travel times dramatically (Dubai Airport to Palm Jumeirah in ~12 minutes vs 45 by car) while operating quietly and with zero emissions.

Meanwhile, Archer Aviation is accelerating in Abu Dhabi. Its Midnight eVTOL aircraft completed its first test flights in the UAE this July, as Archer works with local partners to evaluate performance under the region’s harsh summer conditions (high heat, humidity, and dust).

Archer initially hoped to begin passenger flights by late 2025, even planning to transfer a small fleet of Midnight vehicles to Abu Dhabi by year-end. Updated timelines now point to a commercial launch in early 2026 for Abu Dhabi’s air taxi network, after additional flight testing and regulatory certification are completed.

Whether it’s Joby in Dubai or Archer in Abu Dhabi, the Middle East is poised to turn the future of flight into a reality, likely becoming the first region in the world to launch urban air mobility services at scale.

Since relinquishing its market cap dominance in May, $JOBY has reclaimed its pole position. Here’s a YTD eVTOL maker market cap comparison.

ChatGPT’s Newest Connections

Notion and Canva now both integrate directly with ChatGPT for Pro and Team users. One may search, summarize and interact with Notion workspace content or even pull Canva assets directly from within ChatGPT.

This lets you bring notes, databases, visuals, and full pages into your AI conversations, making project management and collaboration a breeze. For researchers, writers and creative teams, deep research, workplace search and creative asset retrieval are now just a prompt away.

Curing Blindness

Neuralink, Elon Musk’s brain implant company, is taking on vision loss.

The company joined a new University of California-led clinical study aiming to develop an AI-powered bionic eye.

This collaboration envisions a smart visual prosthetic that could help blind individuals recognize faces, navigate outdoor spaces and read.

While still early-stage and invitation-only, the study marks a major expansion for Neuralink’s clinical ambitions. The project will leverage Neuralin’s brain-computer interface experience to push the boundaries of vision restoration, blending neural engineering with AI.

If successful, it could mark a turning point in restoring sight for people living with blindness.
