The Best Performing Stocks Over The Past Year

Happy Saturday!

Yesterday afternoon, I caught up with JC Parets to review the best-performing stocks over the past 12 months and what it means for the future.

We focused on the innovation within communication, energy, robotics and transportation and shared why the charts indicate that we’re on the verge of an AI-powered paradigm shift.

Self-Driving Semis

Aurora Innovation successfully launched a self-driving truck service in Texas, making it the first company to deploy driverless semis for commercial use on public roads in the US.

On April 27th, the company completed its inaugural, fully autonomous deliverytransporting frozen pastries from Dallas to Houston without a human driver onboard.

Following the successful autonomous trek – the company anticipates expanding service to El Paso and Phoenix by the end of 2025.

The era of fully autonomous freight delivery has arrived!

$AUR gained +18% on Friday on news of the successful delivery. The stock is knocking on the door of its 2021 SPAC listing price. Here’s the weekly chart.

Google Backs AST SpaceMobile, Again

Google made an additional $200M+ investment in AST SpaceMobile, the Texas-based company building a space-based cellular broadband network.

AST’s tech connects directly to unmodified smartphones using a constellation of low Earth orbit satellites. No towers. No specialized gear. Full coverage – anywhere on Earth.

This isn’t Google’s first investment in $ASTS. In January 2024, AST raised $155M from Google, AT&T and Vodafone. The first funds came as 10-year convertible notes with long-term revenue commitments. This week’s follow-on investment signals Google’s confidence in the company’s deployment.

$ASTS gained +14.77% on the news. Check out the weekly chart below.

The White House’s FY26 Budget Reshapes NASA’s Human Spaceflight Strategy

The Trump-Vance administration’s proposed FY2026 budget bodes well for a new era of US space exploration. The proposal designates more than $7B for lunar missions and introduces $1B for exploration of Mars.

Pending Congressional approval, the proposal signals a new era for US space exploration, leveraging private markets to provide efficient, cost-effective solutions.

Google’s NotebookLM Goes Mobile

Google’s AI-infused note-taking assistant, NotebookLM, is set to launch on Android and iOS devices on May 20th – with pre-orders now available on both app stores.

Previously only available on desktop, NotebookLM is your personalized AI Research Assistant. It reads and reasons over your notes, PDFs and documents. It doesn’t scour the internet like ChatGPT and Perplexity – rather, it builds an understanding exclusively from your own personal files.

The mobile app will effortlessly sync with the desktop, enabling users to leverage AI on the go.

A Super Bike For The Sky

I want to introduce you to the Volonaut Airbike – a breakthrough in personal air mobility that brings sci-fi to reality.

The single occupant eVTOL exceeds a top speed of 120MPH and is seven times lighter than a conventional motorcycle.

The project fell from the sky, sweeping social by storm – achieving instant virality.

Pre-orders are unavailable, and there is no indication as to the cost of the vehicle, but we love to see the innovation. I suspect this creativity will inspire builders around the world.
